“Collon would be lost without him.”
“Tony will never let you down.”
“Always on hand to offer advice.”
These are just some of the nominee comments which came into the IPN offices for Tony Fitzsimmons, Pharmacist at Collon Pharmacy during the search for The People’s Pharmacist.
“It’s the simple things that can really make a difference,” added another. “From always having a kind and welcoming smile, no matter what else is going on, to taking time out of what is obviously an incredibly busy schedule to always explain medication queries and advising on wellness and health condition management, Tony sums up the saying that community pharmacists are the heart of the community.
“When my entire family came down with Covid during Christmas of last year and my mother who was visiting from out of the country ran out of her medication, Tony was on hand straight away to organise an emergency supply. He even travelled himself to another pharmacy when he did not have enough of certain stock. No matter the issue is, he will go out of his way to help. He is a credit to our village and we would be lost without him.”
