Boots Ireland announced the launch of in-store antigen testing, specifically and only available for customers without COVID-19 symptoms. The service is being launched in response to international travel guidelines where some countries require an antigen test to access the country. The service, priced at €35, will deliver a result within one hour and the provision of a certificate which is recognised for international travel which can be uploaded to the EU Digital COVID Certificate which came into effect as of today. The launch of this service follows the introduction of PCR testing last year at Boots which continues to be available for those who need to provide a PCR certificate for travel.
Rapid antigen testing is now available at 14 Boots stores located in Dublin, Cork, Mayo, Tipperary, Wexford and Wicklow – see store locations in the editors notes. The Boots PCR testing service has now been expanded and is available in 18 stores across the country in counties Dublin, Cork, Mayo, Louth, Galway, Donegal, Kildare and Waterford.
Customers who wish to avail of COVID-19 testing for international travel purposes should ensure to check the entry requirements for the country they are travelling to as they differ from country to country. With Boots Ireland now offering both PCR and antigen testing, all travel certification needs can be met under one roof offering greater convenience and ease for customers navigating requirements for international travel.
It is important to note that a negative test result does not preclude people from observing Government guidelines which must continue to be adhered to at all times. These tests are specifically for customers who do not have any COVID-19 symptoms. Anyone with symptoms must follow the latest Government or HSE guidance to access testing.
Caoimhe McAuley, MPSI, Director of Pharmacy and Superintendent Pharmacist at Boots Ireland
commented: “The introduction of in-store rapid antigen testing at Boots Ireland is the latest evolution of COVID-19 services at Boots Ireland as we aim to keep pace with the changing landscape. As international travel returns from the 19th July, different countries are operating different testing requirements for entry either using a PCR or antigen test. Both tests are now available at Boots Ireland stores providing customers with a trusted partner for all COVID-19 testing needs.”
To obtain a COVID-19 rapid antigen or PCR test, customers will be able to book via www.boots.ie. Online pre-screening will take place before people come to store to ensure that they are not currently experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. Once in store, a Boots COVID-19 Testing Service Advisor will facilitate the test and results will be made available to customers within an hour.
