CarePlus Pharmacy says it has seen a sharp increase use of its App Prescription Ordering Services, as communities across Ireland adhere to social distancing protocol.
The numbers using the App, which was released in 2015 and has over 600 established regular users, have doubled in the past fortnight since the public became aware of the risk of the spread of COVID-19.
The CarePlus Pharmacy App allows for users to send new or repeat prescriptions directly to the Pharmacy for processing without having to enter the store. Customers are asked to order their prescription via the App, and then engage with their local CarePlus Pharmacy to organise prescriptions to be dispensed to waiting cars or, where possible, through home delivery.
Lee-Ann Hyland, Head of Marketing from CarePlus Pharmacy says, “Using technology like our App means that we can reduce the number of face-to-face transactions, and reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19. Community Pharmacy has an important role to play, and our CarePlus Pharmacists, along with other community Pharmacists, will not be found wanting. The increase in the number of App users means that people are quickly adapting to this technology, and we encourage as many customers as possible to consider ways to minimise contact and still get the prescriptions they need.”
CarePlus Pharmacy has also introduced an active policy on social distancing in each of its outlets across the country. Digital displays and in store communications present the most up-to-date information from the HSE, and best practice is being adhered to.
Hyland added, “If customers are unwell with symptoms of COVID-19, they are advised to self isolate and phone their GP. The doctor will assess them over the phone and if they feel the the person needs to be tested, it will be arranged”.
