Alflorex has scooped the award for ‘Best Digestive Product’ at the OTC & Product Retail Awards 2019.
The OTC & Product Retail Awards for 2019 were recently presented at a gala luncheon held in the Radisson Blu, Golden Lane, Dublin. Over 150 industry, trade and pharmacy professionals from across the OTC sector were at the awards.
Sara Beltoise, Marketing Director at Precision Biotics said:
“We are delighted that Alflorex® has won Best Digestive Product this year and winning for the fifth year in a row at the OTC and Retail Pharmacy Product Awards. We are very proud of Alflorex® and these awards are a fantastic recognition of what we have achieved over the years. The culture in Alflorex, 35624®, was discovered and developed in Ireland by Alimentary Health/PrecisionBiotics and it continues to be one of the bestselling products in Ireland. We are also delighted by the very positive feedback we receive from our customers, gastroenterologists and doctors.”
The OTC & Product Retail Awards are the only industry awards, specifically recognising and showcasing the leading manufacturers, companies and their products within the OTC market. They provide the platform from which product innovation, marketing, training and education and value to customer is celebrated and highlighted.
Alflorex was launched in Ireland in February 2014 and is for sale in pharmacies and health food shops around Ireland. It was first discovered at University College Cork. It’s the only culture that has been proven in clinical trials.
Research has shown that the OTC sector within Ireland continues to innovate. With more and more consumers focusing on the buzz word of the moment – that of ‘self care’ – the over-the-counter market is indeed the jewel in the crown of Ireland’s community pharmacy sector. With a greater emphasis being placed on self-care and self-medication, so is the emphasis placed on consumers and patients to ensure they select products that are safe and effective for their needs.
Managing Director of Irish Pharmacy News, Natalie Maginnis said:
“With the rise of the internet as both reference and shopping tools, consumers are now managing more and more ailments themselves. The role of the pharmacist is crucial in helping them to make informed choices and as such they too must always remain educated and knowledgeable on the most efficient and suitable OTC products for a variety of ailments.“Our judging panel was comprised of Ireland’s leading pharmacy professionals from multiple and independent pharmacies, as well as pharmacy buying and symbol groups. For the manufacturers and companies who had products entered and shortlisted, these are the key people they want to hear their product’s message, and to be able to pass it on to the end-user – the consumer.”
