A unique charity partnership between Boots Ireland and the Irish Cancer Society has been recognised at the Irish Healthcare Awards.
The awards recognise innovation, excellence and achievement in the Irish healthcare sector. Boots Ireland and the Irish Cancer Society won the ‘Pharmaceutical Social Commitment Project of the Year’ award at the recent ceremony.
In a social media post Boots Ireland said: “We are delighted to have won the Irish Healthcare Award for the Pharmaceutical Social Commitment Project of the Year with our charity partner, the Irish Cancer Society. Boots customers and our colleagues have raised over €1.4 million since 2012 for the Night Nursing Service.”
Boots has worked in partnership with Irish Cancer Support Society since 2012, with the aim of increasing awareness, helping support people affected by cancer and promoting cancer prevention.
Both Boots pharmacists and Boots Cancer Beauty Advisors have been given special training to be more comfortable, confident and helpful when providing both medical and emotional support to people living with cancer.
Together, Boots and Irish Cancer Society want to increase awareness, promote prevention and raise vital funds to support the Irish Cancer Society’s services, including the Night Nursing service.
They also support a number of key awareness campaigns throughout the year, including Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Lung Cancer Awareness Month and SunSmart.
Thanks to the efforts of Boots colleagues and customers, so far more than €1.4 million has been raised for the Irish Cancer Society.
Boots Ireland hold an annual Boots Night Walks for Night Nurses. Taking place during the middle two weeks of August the Boots Night Walks take place in communities across Ireland and is a truly nationwide event.
